  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

During the course, the heat and mass transfer processes will be examined in different biological systems and applications such as diagnostics and therapy by applying the conservation laws and use of the heat and mass transfer equations. The main themes are: Introductions and definitions, the principles of heat transfer – conduction, convection and radiation, heat transfer in biological tissues, thermal conduction, Fourier’s law, Convective heat transfer, Thermal radiation, conduction and convection integrated systems, electrical analogy, One-dimensional steady-state problems, Energy preservation – heat equation, initial and boundary conditions, Energy preservation with convection, Bioheat transfer equation in mammals, heat transfer in extended surfaces, heat transfer with transient conditions, Biot number. The principles of mass transfer, concentration definitions, concentration in ideal gas, diffusion, Fick’s law, convective mass transfer, heat and mass transfer analogy, Gas-liquid interface, governing equation of mass transfer.
  • Seminar on Research Methods in Physiological Signal (50135)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

Application of the material taught in the theoretical courses through a series of experiments illustrating physiological phenomena using various measuring instruments.

The course includes experiments based on analysis and characterization of varied transducers such as, air flow measurements, oxygen saturation and body temperature and of electrical potentials from the heart, brain, skeletal muscle: ECG, EEG, EMG.

The course includes analysis of the measured signals, including comparison between different physiological conditions (such as rest and exertion), interaction of different indices, frequency analysis of the measured signals, design of an experiment and writing a scientific report.

The presentation of the results will be combined as the task of presenting the research in a scientific poster in the course " Physiological Mechanics of the Musculoskeletal System".
  • Sensors and Systems for Physiological Measurements (68003)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

Introduction to the laboratory systems, working on structured research, writing and submitting a scientific report. Research designing and implementing by conducting measurements, processing and analyzing results. Writing a detailed scientific report: Abstract, Introduction, Methods, Results, Discussion and Summary. Presenting the outcomes.
