  • Facilities Design (40124)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

The course deals with designing facilities based on integrating the Systematic Layout Approach (SLP) and various engineering optimization techniques.

First, various approaches for capacity planning are introduced then typical layout types for popular flow patterns are discussed,

Then SLP is introduced, and its main tools and concepts are discussed.

Various algorithms and mixed-integer programming approaches are used for obtaining the final layouts,

while optimizing quantitative and qualitative objectives.

Finally, methods for designing storage systems and distribution centers are discussed, while focusing on storage and order picking approaches.
  • Operations Management1 (40132)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

Every organization uses resource i?nputs of labor, materials, parts and tools to perform added value activities for generating/creating its product and/or services. The supply and use of these i?nputs and these added value activities are termed “operations”. Operations management exists in every organization. The output is, basically, a physical product or service provided, or both, product and service. Different mathematical models, solution techniques, measures of efficiency, and methods of follow-up are used in planning the operations of production facilities and of service organizations. Selected part of these models and methods will be presented, analyzed and discussed. The main topics covered by this course: Forecasting, aggregate planning, master production scheduling, material requirements planning and lot sizing, inventory management: deterministic and and stochastic; one period, multiple periods, and infinite horizon; heuristics and strict optimization.
  • Operations Management2 (40133)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

    The main course subjects are:

    1. Production disciplines (mass-production, flowshop, group-technology (GT), batch processing, job-shop).

Approaches of linear flow planning methods: Kanban, ConWIP, DBR.

    2. Line balancing for a single model

    3. Line balancing for multi-model line.

    4. Group Technology (GT)

    5. Single machine scheduling

    6. Scheduling on two and three machines

    7. Flowshop scheduling

    8. Jobshop scheduling

    9. Routing materials and products on the shopfloor
  • Advanced Methods In Ops. Planning & Measure (40231)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

During the recent decades various methods for planning operations and measuring performance were developed and adopted in many organizations. These methods are now considered as an acceptable classical methods in operations management. However, these methods are not included in the Industrial Engineering undergraduate curriculum. The course aims at introducing the various methods and enable understanding their capabilities and limitations. The course has three different parts:

    1. Routing methods

    2. Classic operations planning methods

    3. Performance control and measurement
  • Industry 4.0 and Advanced Manufacturing (40249)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

This course reviews the progress in recent decade of advanced manufacturing and the digitalization revolution which includes "Industry 4.0". The course describes the recent developments in advanced manufacturing in Israel and the world, and the main Industry 4.0 technologies: their f?unction, their contribution, and the barriers to their wide implementation.

The course starts with a presenting a general roadmap for "Industry 4.0"; the second class meeting describes "Industry 4.0" technologies for assembly; next, digitalization infra-structure and communications technologies for "Industry 4.0" are presented.

The next meetings are dedicated to various important areas of specialty: computer vision, autonomous systems, cobots, intelligent robotics, cyber world (CPS, DTs, and security).

A special emphasis is given to the human factor in "Industry 4.0", and the integration of artificial intelligence.

The last phase of the course deals with organizational "Industry 4.0" maturity assessment and generating a roadmap for construction of advanced manufacturing system. Finally the course deals with requirements and barriers to "Industry 4.0" organizational implementation.
