  • Project Management (40108)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

Project management is a complex task that requires the use of sophisticated and institutionalized tools and includes aspects of goals definition, project design, content planning, project schedules, resource allocation, and costs.

Most organizations are now aware that most of their ongoing activities and as a result of their resources are invested in projects. In light of this, it is clear that the success of the organizations depends to a large extent on the proper management of these projects. On the basis of this awareness, the field of project management has become a dynamic field that develops and responds to market demands through tools, methods, knowledge and methodologies developed for this purpose.

In recent years we have witnessed the development of international standards for project management, adopted by many organizations, which require the management of projects in a structured format that uses established knowledge in the field, and sophisticated tools and methods with proven advantage to achieve success. Along with the standardization, many tools have been developed to support managers and help to make good and correct decisions that will improve the performance of the various organizations.

The project management course is designed to provide the students with project management knowledge skills that will assist them fulfilling their duties. The course will focus on basic knowledge of project management concepts, project activity planning, project management tools and project monitoring and control methods.

The course is based on the PMBOK, PMI methodology, the course includes a frontal lecture and practice
  • Decision Support Systems - Basic Planning And Buil (40211)
  • תקציר הקורס:

    Abstract:

The course provides students with an understanding of the design and construction process of decision support systems in the various organizations, with emphasis on medical and clinical systems.

Decision Support System (DSS) are essential to decision-making processes in all levels of organizations. The systems help users analyze information and make informed decisions based on a variety of data, information and processes in the organization. Current organization information systems, such as Transaction Information systems (TIS) or Management Information Systems (MIS), do not includes data analysis or reporting mechanism that provides the managers the require support they need for decision making.

Analysis and decision-making processes can be based on DSS (Decision Support System) or based on real-time data in the various processes and then called Online Analytical Processing (OLAP).

Each decision support system uses data from both internal and external sources. Internal data sources may include sales orders, material requirements planning results, serial records or financial data from accounting and financial analysis. External data may include interest rates, population trends, new housing construction costs, or raw material pricing.

Some decision support systems include their own query languages, statistics analytics, spreadsheets, and graphics that help users retrieve data and analyze results. Managers should also be allowed to create a model of the factors that influence a decision. A product manager may decide on a price for a new product. A simple model for finding the best price will include expected sales volume factors at different price levels. The model allows the user to ask if-then questions and view the expected results. The course will introduce the various methods for receiving recommendations from the system, architecture of the different decision support systems, development of decision support system, through the use of customized building tools and integration of decision support systems.

The curriculum includes frontal lectures as well as presenting real-world examples of computing. Before the sessions, students are required to read articles and other information that will be used during the course. The course includes basic review of decision support systems [1], the effects a systematic review of computerized clinical decision support systems on laboratory test ordering [2], an overview of clinical decision support systems: benefits, risks, and strategies for success [3], 2015 – 2019 current State and Emerging Trends of DSS, BI, and Data Analytics Research [4], Developing and maintaining clinical decision support using clinical knowledge and machine learning [5], developing a decision support system (DSS) for a dental manufacturing production line based on data mining review [6], literature review of computerised decision support in physical activity interventions [7], and critical analysis of the reasons for physicians not adopting clinical decision support systems [8].
