Abstract:
The quality of products and services has become a leading factor in the competitiveness of the industrial and business sector. The perception of quality has undergone many transformations in the twentieth century, most notably the transition from filtering and control of materials and products to statistical process control SPC and quality design. Quality, which in the past was perceived as a technical issue relating only to production processes, now encompasses all processes in the organization. Quality efforts do not focus specifically on the product (or service) but on the totality of processes, since correct processes will lead to the production of proper and suitable products for use, increase productivity, improve labor relations and increase the organization's ability to respond to market demands, all at lower costs. The course discusses various topics related to quality control of the products of various processes. After completing the course, the student will be able to analyze various processes using mathematical and statistical tools and check whether the process is normal or if there is a problem that requires managerial intervention and decision making. The models taught in the course are a tool for improving processes in order to ensure that the product (or service) is of a defined quality. This course is mainly quantitative, and therefore solving the exercises is the key to understanding the material. In solving some of the exercises, an Excel spreadsheet or the R statistical software will be used.
