    Abstract:

    Specific topics included are the electronic structure of atoms and diatomic molecules, structure of crystals, energy bands and charge carriers in semiconductors, doping, conduction and carrier mobility, generation/recombination and diffusion of excess carriers, PN junctions in equilibrium and under forward/reverse bias, reverse bias breakdown, MOS capacitor and MOSFET. A fundamental understanding of semiconductor materials and how they are used to create electronic devices, with a focus on diodes and transistors.
